Ghana you have my heart – Edna Gaivizo

No words can begin to describe my 2 weeks in Ghana. It has been an experience of a lifetime and my only wish is that I could have stayed longer.

From the people, to the food and even the weather, there is not one thing I would have changed about my stay. I had no idea what I was getting myself into but I expected the worst, thank goodness I was pleasantly surprised.

The work was extremely hard; I was constantly sweating and tired but just seeing the kids smiling faces made every drop of sweat absolutely worth it! I would recommend this experience to everyone as long as they’re willing to work to the utmost of their abilities as the tasks handed out to the volunteers are not easy although the outcome is totally worth it! I’d like to mention a massive thank you to Louise Barea and all the Marantha Beach staff for making my stay at Ghana so pleasant and accommodating.

I can’t wait to get back to Ghana and pick up where I left off and see everyone once again. I definitely miss them all tremendously! The joy and fulfilment in those kids’ faces is something I could never describe, it’s something you have to see and feel for yourself.

This experience is something I will carry with me for the rest of my life and I can’t wait to continue helping these children in any way possible on their educational journey towards a better and fulfilling future.
