Covid19 Feeding Programmes | Kewunor Azizanya

In 2020 we had to unfortunately cancel all our group / building projects as the Covid19 pandemic hit and Ghana went into lockdown.

The Ghanaian Government took drastic measures to ensure the health and safety of Ghanaians, banning travel, social gatherings and closing all shops and many businesses.

Locals were not allowed to sell, trade or work. In Kewunor, this meant fishermen could not fish, sellers could not trade, and supplies of food in and out of the village became scarce.

School had to remain closed until further notice and children were forced to stay home. This meant that more than 6,000 people were experiencing hunger.

We at Help Me Learn Africa acted quickly and put together a feeding programme for the communities of Kewunor and Azizanya.

We fed over 30,000 kids a day, 7 days a week, for 3 months while complying with the various restrictions and safety measures that were imposed.

The program ran so smoothly and effectively that we decided to run the exact same program in the Kibera slums in Kenya, where over 600 kids were fed daily for 2 months.
