Louise Barea is a Gibraltarian nurse and passionate philanthropist who has dedicated herself to making a difference in Ghana. In 2013, she seized the opportunity to contribute to the construction of a school in Africa, setting off a remarkable journey.
Alongside a dedicated team of volunteers, Louise established Maranatha School in Kewunor, a small fisherman's village that has earned the nickname "Mini Gibraltar." The school proudly flies the Gibraltarian flag and even has a local football team donning the Gibraltar home and away kits.
Initially, Louise helped build two classrooms, and the student population quickly grew from almost nothing to approximately 100 students. Motivated by the success, she returned to Ghana in 2014 to assist in constructing four more classrooms. By 2018, the student population reached 370.
The impact of Help Me Learn Africa's efforts on the village of Kewunor has been transformative.
